How do you understand the role of spiritual guide?

Hello {{Constituent First Name}}!
Here at the Siena Retreat Center, we understand spiritual guidance to be about deepening the seeker's awareness of the Divine Presence within their life. It is a practice that invites a person into greater personal integrity, closer union with the Mystery many name God, and ever-expanding compassion for the world.
While we step into roles that are labeled “guide” and “seeker”, we recognize that the true guide is the Divine Presence that lives within the depths of each of us. Our role then is to become attentive, contemplative listeners that can hold space for and with another as they discern their own path towards that which is Sacred in the concreate particulars of their lives.
Sr. Rita Lui, OP was one of the founders of SGTP almost 25 years ago. I invite you to watch the short video below in which she describes what spiritual guidance is. What do you learn about the role of the spiritual guide from her description? What of this resonates with your desire to accompany others in this way?
In thanksgiving,
Nicki Nelson

Need a Spiritual Guide?
One of the requirements of the program is that you are meeting monthly with your own spiritual guide. If you are not already in a spiritual guidance relationship, I encourage you to begin to find one now who is a good fit for you. They can be an invaluable resource as you discern your own call to this work and whether or not Siena’s SGTP is the right program for you. Please let me know if you would like help getting connected to a spiritual guide.
Anyone can benefit from spiritual guidance. Anyone who seeks with a sincere heart will be surprised and delighted by the abundance of the world we live in. The program teaches you to listen and see with the “eyes of your heart”. As you do, life and all your experiences become brighter, when viewed from a perspective of self-compassion.
