Hello {{First Name}}!
Here at the Siena Retreat Center, we understand spiritual guidance to be about deepening our awareness of the Divine Presence within our life. It is a practice that invites us into greater knowledge of who we are, of the Mystery many name God, and of the ways in which we are invited to embody compassion in the world. It leads to a deeper experience of living with authenticity, meaning, and purpose.
While we step into roles that are labeled “guide” and “seeker”, we recognize that the true guide is the Divine Presence that lives within the depths of each of us. Our role then is to become attentive, contemplative listeners that can hold space for another as they discern their own path towards that which is Sacred in the concrete particulars of their lives.
One of the requirements of the Spiritual Guidance Training Program is that you meet monthly with your own spiritual guide in a one-on-one setting. If you are not already in a spiritual guidance relationship, I encourage you to begin to find one now who is a good fit for you. Spiritual direction can be an invaluable resource as you discern your own call to this work and whether or not Siena’s SGTP is the right program for you. Please let me know if you would like help getting connected to a spiritual guide; I am happy to provide referrals.
Sr. Rita Lui, OP was one of the founders of SGTP over 25 years ago. I invite you to watch the short video below in which she describes what spiritual guidance is. What do you learn about the role of the spiritual guide from her description? What of this resonates with your desire to accompany others in this way?
In active hope,
Nicki Nelson
